My Dinner with........

I wasn't tagged so much as volunteered for this Meme: My dinner with....

1. Pick a single person, past or present, in the film industry who you'd like to have dinner with, and tell us why you chose this person.

While there are all sorts of good looking actors I suppose I could put in that spot, in the end actors can be pretty self-centered and I'm not young, fascinating, exciting, or gorgeous enough to hold their attention. It would be an exercise in feeding an ego that I wouldn't want to partake in. HOWEVER, I would love, love, love, love LOVE to have a beer or three with Joss Whedon :

and if I could consider him also a part of the film industry
Neil Gaiman:

2. Set the table for your dinner. What would you eat? Would it be in a home or at a restaurant? And what would you wear? Feel free to elaborate on the details.

There is a place my aunt and I went to visit over Christmas called Jemez Springs, New Mexico. It was Christmas Eve when we drove through and everything was shut down except for the Los Ojos Restaurant and Saloon. It has really good beer and burgers (mine was with swiss cheese, black olives, and mushrooms). The counters, stools, benches, tables, walls, floors, are all old, worn, smooth wood that creaks with any movement. Men in cowboy hats and Wranglers sit and sip mescal and beer next to boys in baseball caps as they all watch the old tv behind the bar. The waiter is the bartender. Rifles and antlers decorate the walls and the bathroom door hinges complain constantly. No one would know Joss or Neil there, and if they did, it would be low key. No one would care.

We would either go there or maybe the Little Bear Bar and Saloon in Evergreen, Colorado. Either way, it would be beer and comfort food. We'd all be in jeans and casual. Walking shoes so we could stroll around afterwards and chat while the food settled.

3. List five thoughtful questions you would ask this person during dinner.

There would be lots of talk about where they get their ideas and how they discipline themselves to set their asses in the chair and write. When do they decide to stick to their guns with a story and when do they decide to go with the editor and all that sort of stuff. Do they still use critique partners? When do they decide a writing event (like a group or con or signing or something) is necessary and when do they decide it's a waste of time and they need to be at home writing? How long does it take them to research things and what kinds of sources do they use? Those are the types of things I would ask, if I could open my mouth. Mostly I'd just want to sit there and listen to them talk. Maybe get them started on a discussion about religion and mythology or something like that.

4. Link back to Lazy Eye Theatre, so that people know the mastermind behind this meme. But I also got it via Jim.

5. When all is said and done, select bloggers to pass this Meme along to:
Yeah, not going to do that. I hate it when people do that to me. But if you want to do it, you can.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone!

I didn't realize it, but my last post was the first anniversary of Kiko's death. Somewhere between the 6 month mark and this month, it got a little easier to live with I guess. I still have bad moments. Pye does, too. But mostly we get on.

That's what I'm doing, mostly getting on.

Shiny Toy Sent Packing...

Well, the new (to me) shiny laptop is being returned. It worked all of a week before deciding to go belly up, and then I spent more time trying to fix it, and now I gotta use my own money to return it and insure it. Ugh. Waiting for checks to come in from freelance jobs so I can actually do that. Hope it happens before the RMA runs out....

Now my cat is sitting on the work I need to proof and edit, giving me the evil eye. But I fed him dinner! Really I did!

Ack!

This is one of the reasons I'm pulling for Hillary

If you have friends who are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender I think you should seriously consider voting for Hillary Clinton. At least she's not ashamed to be seen with her gay supporters. Here's the link if the one on the pic doesn't work: http://www.taylormarsh.com/archives_view.php?id=27118
